Youth Volunteer Opportunities
Open to students Grades 5-12 who are open to sharing their time and faith in service at the Altar for Mass and other liturgical celebrations.
Time Commitment: 1 ½ hour per Mass approximately 12 times per year.
The Children’s Choir consists of children singing at the 4:00 PM Mass each Saturday.
Time Commitment: Rehearsals are held on Tuesdays from 3:15 PM until 4:00 PM
JAM “Jesus and Me” Participant (Preschool-Grade 5)
The children in this group gather together throughout the year to have fun and develop relationships while learning about their Catholic faith.
Time Commitment: The children meet on a Friday evening for 1 hour, six times a year.
Rainbow (Grades 9-12)
This is a weekend conference especially for High School youth put on by the CYO. It is held at the Marriott Renaissance Hotel in Detroit. The weekend is full of activities and learning sessions.
Time Commitment: Friday, Saturday, Sunday – Once a year.
Retreat Opportunities (Grades 7-12 )
Interested in a weekend retreat – away from the parish, away from home - time to contemplate what’s going on in your life - maybe even an opportunity to experience a ROPES course or hike through a camp.
Time Commitment: Details to be determined.
Service Projects (Grades 7-12)
Service projects are for all teens of the parish. The best way to learn about ourselves is to answer God’s call in service to others.
Time Commitment: Various projects as needed by parish community throughout the year.
St. Peter KEYS Youth Group (Grades 4-6)
Join this fun group and be the “Keys” to the future of St. Peter Church.
Time Commitment:Meet once a month on Sunday afternoons for fun and fellowship.
Super Bowl of Caring (Grades 7-12 )
This is a national collection that occurs on Super Bowl Sunday for a local charity of your choice. Our choice is St. Vincent DePaul. We will be collecting money and canned goods at all doors after all the Masses on Super Bowl Sunday.
Time Commitment: Fifteen minutes after the Mass of your choice.
Teen Youth Group – ROCK (Grades 7-12)
If you are interested in participating in fun activities with other parish youth, this is the group for you. Activities such as Bounce House, Bowling, Open Gym Nights, Picnics and more are available for you.
Time Commitment: Two hours a month on Sunday.
Thanksgiving Food Drive (Grades 7-12 )
Food Drive for St. Vincent DePaul Food Bank held each year the weekend before Thanksgiving and at the Thanksgiving Eve Mass. This group would be responsible for advertising, promotion and collection of the food and also delivering the food to the St. Vincent DePaul Food Bank
Time Commitment: November – 15 minutes after Mass
Vacation Bible School (VBS) (Grades 6-12)
Our VBS Program is offered once a year to our children from preschool to fifth grade. This program needs many volunteers to make it successful:

Time Commitment: VBS is held during the last week of July, Monday-Friday, from 9:00 AM - Noon. Each volunteer position below requires that you are there from 8:30 AM - 12:15 PM, Monday-Friday.
World Youth Day at Home (Grades 9-12)
St. Peter Church has been chosen as one of the sites celebrating “World Youth Day” at home. This event coincides with World Youth Day in Madrid, Spain and will include service opportunities, an overnight vigil, and sunrise Mass. This is a great opportunity to get to know youth from all over the Archdiocese of Detroit.
Time Commitment: Details coming in 2015 & 2016
Youth Leadership Team (Grades 7-12)
If developing your leadership abilities is your thing, you will love this! We are looking for motivated young people to fill four spots for High School and three for Junior High to help carry out youth group service projects and events. Sign up to support our Adult Leadership Team.
